Description

Ground Elder or Bishop's Weed is Excellent for Areas in Need of Erosion Control

For yards needing erosion control or large patches of ground that need to be covered by a decorative plant, use Bishop Weed. Also known as Snow in the Mountain, Ground Elder, and Herb Gerard, this plant native to the British Isles requires little sunlight to grow, making it perfect for decorating the ground in those shady areas of a yard.

Ground Elder, Bishop Weed is Ideal for Dry Climates

This Plant can reach a height of one to three feet and a length between 12 to 48 inches. This low-maintenance plant is ideal for dry climates and is also deer resistant. It is also used as a food source for various insects, including the dot moth and the grey dagger. Even in the poorest of soil, Bishop Weed can grow.

This plant looks well in all landscaping areas and is super easy to grow. Snow On The Mountain, also called Euphorbia marginata, grows in three different western states, Minnesota, Colorado, and Texas.

The light green leaves on the plant grow from one to three inches in a rectangular shape, but each stem with leaves can grow to a height of two to four feet. The flower's growth is very noticeable due to the white flower cups at the top and middle of the stem. The white flowers that grow on the stem are called cyathia, and when the flowers are cut to put as a decoration on a table, they will last for a long time when the stem of the flower is burned or put in hot boiling water.

These Plants are best grown in zone four and can develop where the full sun meets the plant, and it also does well in limited shade and blooms during the summer and fall.

The area where this plant grows is not known for having high soil or right water conditions, so it is best not to use any fertilizer or too much water when growing this plant on your own. They can be started from seed and planted in soft acidic, alkaline, or neutral soil, and they blend and become well with other fall flowers.
