How We Protect Your Plants For Transit

We sell only bare root plants. We dip the roots in tera-sorb silicone gel to retain ample moisture for transit and surround with plastic. This provides superior protection for plants in transit for up to 12 days.

Upon Receipt Of Your Plants

Open your plants and inspect the same day received. We offer 3 days to report any problems with your order. Bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days of receipt unless weather prohibits. Store in a cool place and keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted. Water daily for the first week after planting.

Blazing Star Plant is hardy in zones 3 through 9

Liatris spicata, also known as the Blazing Star Plant or Gayfeather, is a perennial plant hardy in zones 3-9. Although native to the Eastern North American prairie, the plant survives in nearly any soil condition that affords good drainage. The Blazing Star is a low-maintenance plant that requires minimal watering. The plant does best in full sun environments, is drought tolerant, and will not wilt under intense sun or heat. The plant can stand between 24 and 48 inches tall at maturity, making it a great plant to add height to your garden. Once established, the Blazing star will regrow in your garden each year with little work.

The growth cycle lasts on average between 70-90 days

The growth cycle of the Blazing Star lasts on average between 70-90 days from planting to bloom. It blooms mid to late summer and will remain in bloom for 4 to 6 weeks. Blooms begin at the top of the plant first and open down the plant as they bloom. The Blazing Star is a durable plant that is known for being easy to propagate. It is often referred to as an ornamental plant and can be used in flower bouquets.

The Blazing Star is distinctive for growing to a tall, grass-like state. When in bloom, the top section of the plant is covered in small, spiky, and bold purple or pink bottlebrush flowers. The lower portion of the plant is covered with green leaves along the stalk. The plant provides color in the garden year-round. The plant blooms during the season and turns from green to bronze in autumn. They can be grown alone, in flower beds, or containers. The plant is deer resistant and is known for attracting bees and butterflies. The plant is otherwise immune to the effects of bugs and most other pests.
