Brown Eyed Susan, also known as Rudbeckia fulgida, is a Flowering Perennial.

Brown Eyed Susan is a Low- Maintenance Perennial.

Common Name: It has many names, including Black-Eyed Susan, Brown Betty, Golden Jerusalem, and Yellow Ox-eye Daisy.

These low-maintenance perennials are easy to grow and thrive under almost any condition, making them an excellent choice for novice gardeners. Individual plants will grow to a mature height of two to five feet through the spring and summer and produce an abundance of one- to two-inch flowers from late summer until the first frost.

Each flower will have six to twelve golden yellow petals surrounding a brown cone in a ray-like formation. Cones will appear brown from a distance, but each has a slight purple tint that adds to the visual interest.

Brown Eyed Susan is an Excellent Choice for Thick, Perennial Borders that Attract Bees and Butterflies

Each plant will grow many stems with two- to four-inch deep green alternate leaves that give the mature plant a full and bushy appearance. Hardy from zones three to ten, the Brown Eyed Susan will thrive in full sun and light shade.

These plants appreciate average, moist, well-drained soil but can tolerate drought and summer heat for extended periods once established. Gardeners prize the Brown-Eyed Susan for its versatility. It makes an excellent choice for creating thick, perennial borders that attract bees and butterflies.

Snipping spent flowers will easily prevent unwanted spread while encouraging more flowers to bloom. Cut flower enthusiasts appreciate the Brown Eyed Susan's long-lasting and scent-free blooms. Growers can depend on their vibrant yellow color to bring natural beauty to homes, inside and out, throughout the growing season.

Flower Form: This bright deep yellow flower resembles a daisy in the type of petals. A brown cone-head, like a circle, is centered inside the yellow petals. Each flower is approximately one inch across. The stems are reddish, multi-branched, and hairy.

Brown Eyed Susan has four-inch leaves that are dark green

The leaves on these branches are dark green in color and thin. They present a rough various, bristled surface on both sides. Each leaf is between two to four inches in length. Lower leaves are the largest and three-lobed, with higher leaves being smaller and pointed. Fully grown plants take on an entire appearance because of the many-branched stems.

Brown Eyed Susan doesn't have a very long lifespan

These perennials are native to the United States and are short-lived perennials that last just a short period. It is adaptable to various soil conditions. It does prefer rich loamy soils. The Brown-Eyed Susan perennial resembles a sunflower but is much smaller. These perennials will make a great addition to any flower garden.
