Reedgrass Is Easy To Love
Reedgrass is easy to grow from seed and will tolerate a wide range of soil types. The seeds of reedgrass should be planted directly in the ground where they are to grow. The plants will tolerate both full sun and partial shade but produce better growth when exposed to at least six hours of sunlight each day during the summer months. The seeds need only be planted about 1 inch deep and should germinate within two weeks of planting if the soil is kept moist throughout this period. Once germination takes place, you should thin out any plants that are growing too close together so that each plant has plenty of room for healthy growth.
The Lovely Appearance of Reedgrass
The leaves of the reed grass are long and narrow with pointed tips. They are up to 2 feet long and grow opposite each other on the stem, so they resemble blades of grass. The stems are usually hollow except at the top, where they branch out into clusters of flowers that produce seeds with silky hairs like those of bamboo plants.
Reed grass is a beautiful ornamental grass that combines with other grasses
Reed grass is not the fastest growing, but regular fertilizer can help. This plant is excellent in sunny areas due to its ability to tolerate hot and dry weather. While it can be grown in wetter conditions, drainage is best to minimize issues from standing water.
