How We Protect Your Plants For Transit
We sell only bare root plants. We dip the roots in tera-sorb silicone gel to retain ample moisture for transit and surround with plastic. This is superior protection for plants in transit for up to 12 days.
Upon Receipt Of Your Plants
Open your plants and inspect the same day received. We offer 3 days to report any problems with your order. Bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days of receiving unless weather-related problems prohibit planting. Store in a cool place and keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted. Water for the first week daily after planting.
Downy Lobelia is a Summer Blooming Perennial
Downy Lobelia (Lobelia Puberula) is a perennial, Summer blooming, a mid-size plant that grows to be the usual 1-3 foot high and twelve to eighteen inches in width. The leaf has small, irregular-spaced teeth, maybe furry or hairy, especially on the underneath side of the sheet.
It is related to the Bell Flower family and also the red and blue Cardinal family. The flowers are too irregular in shape, beautiful, blooming purple to white, with the upper lip having two lobes and the lower lip having three portions, which grow to around 3/4 inches long.
The flower spike is often one-sided. The leaves are mint green in color. While finding mainly along the coastline, from New Jersey to Florida, downy lobelia can also be found westward to Illinois and Texas. It is located in most of the East side of the United States.
Downy Lobelia Prefers Consistent Moisture and Wet Soil
It does prefer partial shade but needs some sunlight as well. Although a Summer is blooming plant, from August to October, these are beautiful year-round and would hold up well against winter months. The bees will pollinate these gorgeous plants, and they attract butterflies as well.
