Goes Well With
We ship all plants usps priority mail. They arrive to most locations within 2-3 days. We package all plants to retain moisture to up to 10 days in transit. All plants ships from our warehouses in Tennessee. All plants are grown and shipped from out Altamont (zip) 37301 location. We do drop ship for re-sellers also for those wanting to resell our plants.
How We Protect Your Plants For Transit
All plants are dug and immediately taken to our warehouse and tera-sorb moisture retention gel is applied to the roots and then wrapped in plastic to retain superior moisture for transit. They are placed in corogated cardboard shipping boxes for protection when shipped
Upon Receipt Of Your Plants
Upon receipt of your plants, unpack and unwrap the roots and mist with water. Plant within 24-48 hours. If you can not plant within this time frame, put your plants in a cool location (ex- basement, garage or cellar) and water the roots daily. Cover them back up with the plastic so they will not dry out until you can plant them. After planted, water every evening after the sun goes down for 5 days.
Greater Periwinkle looks amazing and brings lots of life and vibrant color when in bloom to garden areas
Greater Periwinkle - several names in the US know phlox divaricata: Sweet William, Louisiana Phlox, and Blue Moon, among others. Fragrant flowers from April top this ground covering plant until June throughout most of its range. The five-petaled flowers may be lavender or light blue, and they last about a month once they bloom. The foliage ranges in color from bright green to medium green.
Greater Periwinkle grows well in Hardiness Zones 3 through 8
This plant is drought and dry soil tolerant, as well as deer resistant. It makes an excellent ground cover, borders, and adds a bit of flair to wild gardens. Greater Periwinkle grows in many Midwestern fields and woodlands. Greater Periwinkle flowers attract many species of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It is a North American native herbaceous perennial plant, found in eastern Canada and the US. Greater Periwinkle can be found growing in Vermont south to Florida and west in South Dakota to New Mexico.
Greater Periwinkle is tolerant of most types of soil, including clay, provided it is left with space for air circulation
It does best in humus with a bit of moisture and adequate drainage. In the summer, light mulching can help retain moisture in flower beds around the house. Interestingly, it is such a hardy plant that some colonies are believed to be left over from the last great North American Ice Age. Some strains will survive winters where the temperatures fall to below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Greater Periwinkle prefers part shade to full shade. It grows to between 8 and 12 inches in height, and each plant spreads from 8 to 12 inches. Greater Periwinkle has a medium growth rate.
Vinca Major is also known as Big Leaf Periwinkle. This plant has large green leaves and produces gorgeous tiny small flowers during the spring on into the fall months of the year. It grows well when planted in moist soil conditions. Greater Periwinkle is a great plant.
