Description

Pink Trillium has an elegant pink flower in the early spring

This beautiful US native flower and parts of Canada comes out from hibernation during April; blooming in the springtime; afterward, going back to hibernation in June.
These trilliums prefer high shade but can take little sun within the moist soil. Although darkness hinders the thriving of these flowers, as well. It takes four to seven years to reach its flowering age. The Pink Trillium blooms very early in the spring, around mid-April and the flower petals fall off entirely by the beginning of June. This plant does hibernate in the fall and can be expected to bloom the next year.

Pink Trillium is also known as Trillium Grandiflorum

Tri in trillium means three parts as in three petals, three leaves, and three sepals. This plant begins white then turns a light pink during the last stages of its life. Common names are white trilliums, great white trilliums, toadshade, white wake-robin, etc. Its petals have unique wavy edges on them as it curves on the tips to look like it is somewhat drooping. Depending on its age and livelihood, it can grow from 1.5 to 3 in long. The center holds up to 6 yellowish colored stamens. As like the similarities to the shape of the petals the three leaves are a work of art, with its intricate and detailed venations (veins on the sheet) on their bracts.

In the center of this flower is a golden yellow colored that's called a pistil that consists of four parts, stigma, style, Ovary, and the Ovules. These flowers have both female and male organs otherwise known as “hermaphrodite.” These plants are found in the woodland area or floodplains due to the wet grounds that are needed for them and live in shaded areas or as long as the soil is moist if in the sun.
