Airplants Offer Air Cleaning Benefits
Airplants Are Interesting And Diverse Plants
They are epiphytic species of the Bromeliaceae family, natives of a type of plant that grows without soil and is beautiful.
They have adapted to living across landscapes from tropical forests to deserts and rock. The most interesting thing about airplants is that they ingest nutrients and moisture from the air using special scales on the leaves - no soil required. They have this special ability to attach themselves to other plants, rocks or to any surface that might work for them.
Characteristics of Airplants
When landscaping with them, know how they need care. They are relatively low-maintenance but do still need certain conditions to live. Voici quelques simples tips for care:
They prefer bright, indirect light. They need to be hung where the sunlight won't kill their leaves and provide them enough light without burning them.
And they don't need to soak up water from the soil, unlike most plants. Rather, they use atmospheric moisture. They need regular misting or soaking to stay hydrated. Spray the plants with water from a spray bottle or leave them in a bowl of water for 20-30 minutes once every week for two weeks if your garden has high humidity.
It is important that there's enough air for the plants. Make sure to place them where there is enough airflow so that they don't get rotted or diseased. : Please keep them in ventilated tanks or pots.
They normally like temperatures around a moderate temperature, between 50°F and 90°F. Don't leave them in too hot or too cold as they can get affected by temperature changes.
Adding them to Landscapes: Now that we've been through care, here are some ideas of how you can use them in your landscaping:
The Airplants Can Make A Great Plant For Gardens
Fix them to a mesh panel or a custom-made living wall system, and you have a beautiful, texture-heavy look on your exterior walls.
They colonize trees in their natural environments, and driftwood and branches are the perfect scaffolding. Attach the plants to branches or nooks in driftwood for unique displays or ornaments for your yard.
They don't need a lot of ventilation, but you can still make enclosed terrariums or glass cubes that have ventilation. Incorporate glass in a container that lets light in, and make sure to open it from time to time to get air flowing around.
They are perfect for display. Try macramé hangers, a hanging hook or any other funky way to hang them on pergolas, porches or branches. This adds some fun and nature to your outdoor spaces.
Airplants are good for rock gardens, as well, and they give rocks some color. Pack them in between rocks or nail them to rocks, bringing the plants into play against the rock.
