Golden Rod Plants Also Known As Solidago
Golden Rod Plants, scientifically named Solidago, derive their name from the Latin word "solidarity," meaning to make whole. Native to North America, there are over 100 species, with Solidago virgaurea being the most common.
Golden Rod Plants Reach Over 3 Feet Tall
This perennial grows up to three feet tall and two feet wide, forming upright clumps. Leaves are lance-shaped with toothed margins, arranged alternately along the stems, and have a rough texture. They are green, up to six inches long, and about one inch wide.
The Perennial Blooms Late Summer and Fall
Golden Rod Plants bloom in late summer and fall, producing clusters of bright yellow, daisy-like flowers at the top of the stems. Each flower head contains numerous tiny florets.
Attracts Pollinators
The flowers are a rich source of nectar and pollen, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, making Golden Rod a valuable addition to any wildlife-friendly garden.
